Certified sustainable vineyards and wineries in the Hamptons and North Fork of Long Island.
Whether you’re headed out for vineyard visits, looking for tasting rooms, or seeking out labels at your favorite wine shop, this guide features the vineyards and wineries on New York’s Long Island whose viticulture practices meet the standards of Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing.
At the end of each entry, we’ve included additional vineyard and cellar practices used by the winegrower that are important to many of our readers. Check out these definitions of the terms used to designate those practices.

McCall Wines (Cutchogue)
The McCall family had been gathering on the North Fork for nearly a century when, in 1996, the farm adjacent to their home was put on the market for condominium development. In response, the McCalls joined forces with the Peconic Land Trust to preserve the neighboring property for agriculture use. They replanted its fields with Pinot Noir and Merlot then waited for the vines to mature before releasing a wine under their family moniker. They installed a wind turbine for a renewable energy source and acquired North Ridge Vineyard, endeavoring to revitalize its old-vine plantings of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. The McCalls are as proud of their conservation efforts as they are of their wines, taking pride in the foxes, pheasant, deer, hawks, turtles, and wildflowers that continue to grace their property.
