CONVERGENCE

P astor Genaro Marín and local Hispanic community activist Adela Mendoza make people nervous. Put in physical proximity, they hatch ideas. Ideas of change and empowerment and community that stir the pots. Ideas that require their own flocks to grow, stand up, leave the nest. Their latest conspiratorial collaboration is a community garden on the grounds of Russell Presbyterian in Berea, home to Genaro’s ministry. Their families need to eat and need the time and safe place to tend something simple and pure together. While the families will determine the ultimate rows to hoe, these two leaders have clear visions of eggplants and chiles and cultural pride in the seasons ahead.
