Cake vs. Pie Photo Contest |

Congratulations to the winners of our 2010 Pie vs Cake Photo Contest, produced by Jenise Silva & Edible Seattle.
All winners recieve a year's subscription to Edible Seattle.
In addition, First Place recieves a $50 certificate to Glazer's Camera, and Second Place recieves a $25 gift certificate to Glazer's.
First Place: Peaches and Plums, by Valentina Vitols.
Judge's note: As we head into a very early autumn, these juicy fruit slices were enormously compelling. Lovely styling, showing off the fruit to full effect.
Second Place: The Real Deal, by Kairu Yao.
Judges note: We were calling this one "coconut frenzy" and "coconut party" more than by its official title. This messy cake looks rich, sweet, crumbly--and like we wish that first slice had been delivered to our door. And that dangly bit of coconut at the edge of the platter....don't you just want to wipe it off with your thumb and eat it up?
Third Place: Apricot and Tayberry Tart, by BJ Hatcher.
Love the colors swimming across this photo--the stark black and white fading into crisp pastry and ending up with the boom-boom red and orange intensity of the fruit. A fine shot of of a finger-lickin' sticky treat.
