Zocalo's own Chef Ryan has auditioned for The Next Food Network Star. On Monday, August 2, check out Ryan's audition video, as well as the dish he prepared, at Zocalo's monthly tequila tasting. The tequila this month is the new Espolon and the food is Ryan's paella. The cost is $10 per person (you must be 21 or over) and the event starts at 6 p.m. Then, come back on Tuesday for Zocalo's 2 for $20, where you get an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert (from a limited menu), all for only $20, as well as specially-priced margaritas, beer and Mojitos, for those old enough to drink. Your choice of appetizers includes sopes, flautas, or gorditas. Entrée choices include masa cake with carnitas, pork tacos, chicken tostada, red enchiladas, green enchiladas, grilled quesadilla, or pork chops in green chile verde. Dessert options include flan, brownie, or churros. (Vegetarian substitutions on any entree are welcome.) And if you're ready for more, come back on Friday night to listen to some live Mariachi music while you enjoy Zocalo's food and atmosphere. Live Mariachi music starts at 9 p.m. every Friday. Zocalo is located at 1801 Capitol Avenue, on the corner of Capitol Avenue and 18th Street in midtown Sacramento. For more information, click here or call 916-441-0303.
