Many words have been spilled trying to capture the magic of a martini. A simple Gin martini with a lemon twist was Julia Child's favorite pre-dinner cocktail. H. L. Menken called it, "the only American invention as perfect as the sonnet." And countless Hollywood stars built their personas around this cocktail -- could we imagine James Bond or the Rat Pack without one?

Some of you may be martini purists, with nothing but chilled Gin and vermouth in your wide-mouthed, long-stemmed glass. If you're feeling adventurous, though, try one of these.
