So, You Wanna Be a Beekeeper?

Written by Leah McLaughlin; Photographed by Carole Topalian

The borough is all abuzz these days with Queen bees keeping Queens bees. In fact, Queens is one of the best places in the city to keep bees. Because we have so much green space and so many flowering trees, our honey is sweeter than the rest of the city's, or so say our homegrown beekeepers, and we believe them. In this exclusive season-by-season checklist, we offer novice beekeepers a checklist to follow to ensure your hives stay happy.

Seasonal Beekepeer's Checklists:

SPRING

SUMMER

FALL

WINTER
