Harlan Wolfe Ranch is a community demonstration garden which is part of Pikes Peak Urban Gardens in Colorado Springs. There are also plots of raised beds that are used to grow vegetables and herbs for local restaurants. The purpose of Harlan Wolfe Ranch is to teach the community about sustainable edible gardens, raised bed planting, composting, organic pest management, etc. They have a Children’s Garden and also offer a “pick n pay” option for anyone to come by and well, pick what they want and pay for what they pick. There aren’t many urban or community gardens at all in Colorado Springs and I really hope that more gardens start developing in the near future!
A friend of mine is a volunteer there and she took me on a little tour one Sunday when it was completely empty. This was during late summer and so now that our first frost is looming, these photographs are a welcome sight!

Cheyenne Creek runs through the property and the 2 acres behind the garden are being preserved as a wildlife habitat.

Oh good for them! I, too, hope it becomes contagious! So cool to get kids involved in gardening and learning an appreciation for good food and how easy it is to grow it! Beautiful photographs, too, Kat!
