MEET THE ARTIST: The watercolor paintings on our cover and What’s in Season pages are by Oakland artist Wendy Yoshimira. She says: “I paint to capture a single instant, like the play of morning light and shadows on translucent flower petals or luscious fruit. These moments of intense beauty touch me deeply but are gone in a flash. Watercolor’s transparency and fluidity are uniquely suited to capture color, light, and shadow. Its quiet, wild flow constantly pushes the limits of an artist’s precision and control.”

artists at all levels, including beginners, and is open for new students to join each week.
