If you talk about lazy days of summer you must be familiar with the weather in August in the Deep South. That was the month when we had our reunions, and for many years and several generations these reunions were held outside. They were held in early August, after the crops were gathered, and before September, which was cotton-picking time. My mother told me she absolutely hated picking cotton when she was a child.
