Anna Thomas wrote The Vegetarian Epicure in 1973 while she was a graduate student in film production at UCLA. It became a phenomenal success, and is widely acknowledged as the book that brought pleasure to vegetarian cuisine. Together with The Vegetarian Epicure, Book Two (1978), The New Vegetarian Epicure (1996) and Love Soup (2009) it has created a devoted following. Thomas is also well known as a screenwriter and film producer. She writes, cooks and hikes in the Ojai Valley, in California.
